No wonder the 2003 Buick LeSabre is dubbed the Celebration Edition: The brand's first 2003 model commemorates two achievements: Buick's 100th anniversary and LeSabre's 10th birthday.

"The new LeSabre is a double celebration," Chris Mazglad, LeSabre brand manager, said in a statement. "Not only is this the first model of Buick's centennial year to be introduced, but we're also celebrating the completion of LeSabre's 10th straight year as the best-selling full size car in the U.S. market. The Celebration Edition offers our loyal customers a model with a refreshed look and distinctive premium features — and will interest a lot of new customers as well."

The LeSabre Celebration Edition features body-color fascias and rocker moldings, turn signals in the side mirrors and new 16-inch chrome wheels. The distinguished exterior package is marked by a new monochrome emblem, a grille with blacked-out bars, a blacked-out license plate pocket and a Limited emblem rear appliqué. Two new optional premium paints — Crimson Pearl and White Diamond &#mdash; are offered in addition to the standard Light Bronzemist.

Under the hood, the 2003 LeSabre is powered by the 3.8-litre 3800 Series II V6 engine, coupled to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission. The engine provides 205 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 230 lbs.-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.

Interior features and changes include standard two-tone leather seats with embroidered logos, black cherry woodgrain on the instrument panel and door trim pads. There are chrome interior door handles and the floor mats also receive the special embroidered Buick tri-shield.

Safety-wise, the Celebration offers standard OnStar, the 24-hour on-demand navigation and assistance service; StabiliTrak, an advanced integrated vehicle stability control system that helps the driver maintain control in a skid or slide; and EyeCue Head-Up Display (HUD). Also standard are Catcher's Mitt high-retention front outboard seats with self-aligning head restraints for improved protection in rear impact collisions.

Optional features with the LeSabre Celebration Edition package include XM satellite radio, a sunroof, and the Gran Touring package, which features a specially tuned sporty suspension and rear stabilizer bar and 16-inch all-season touring tires.
