Canadian Jaguar lovers, the answer to your prayers has arrived. No longer will you have to choose between driving your beloved Jag or the ability to take along your beloved snowboard, skis or Newfoundland terrier. The X-TYPE Wagon is here.

Available exclusively in Canada, the Jaguar X-TYPE Wagon made its North American debut at the 2004 Montreal International Auto Show.

Based on the X-TYPE sedan, but with new body styling and structure from the B-pillars back - including rear doors and roof - the new X-TYPE Wagon offers Jaguar style, driving dynamics and luxury combined with the versatility of a wagon. Its maximum usable load volume with rear seats folded flat is greater than that of the BMW 3-Series Touring and the Mercedes C-Class Wagon, and 20 per cent bigger than the Audi A4 Avant, according to Jaguar.

The rear seat can be configured to provide seating for one, two or three passengers, depending on how much luggage space is required. The load area is fully carpeted and trimmed, and a generously sized, easily accessed storage area is located under the one-piece floor. A power output socket allows a laptop computer to be recharged while discreetly concealed below the floor.

Depending on specification, additional stowage boxes for small items are installed behind removable doors in either or both rear sides, while luggage in the main load area is concealed with a retractable soft cover. Easy loading is aided by a split tailgate, with the option of opening either the entire tailgate or just the rear window. Externally, fixed roof rails are fitted as standard.

The engine range for the new X-TYPE Wagon mirrors that of the sedan and comprises 2.5 litre V6 gas and 3.0 litre V6 gas engines. The two V6 engines power vehicles featuring Jaguar's Traction-4 all-wheel drive

Drivers can choose from a number of trim specifications, including a number of new choices that have been introduced for the 2004 model year. When it goes on sale in spring 2004, The X-TYPE 2.5 Wagon will retail from $43,195 for the X-TYPE 2.5 Wagon and $46,995 995 for the X-TYPE 3.0 Wagon.
