Renault's 5-door Modus debuted at the 2004 Birmingham Motor Show in Britain, to be positioned below the Renault Clio, said the french company.

The Modus is said to emphasize space and versatility. It comes with three different engines - a 1.2 litre, 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre. The Modus is 3,792 mm long, which is 19mm longer than the Clio. Wheels are 15" or 16" depending on the version.

Five trim levels will be available - Autentique, Expression, Dynamique, Privelege and Initiale (the last one due in 2005). The Modus can hold up to five people, and includes a spare tire. Other equipment found on the Modus is cruise control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and rain-sensitive wipers.
