For drivers who want a whole lot of luxury to go along with high performance, they can always feel free to check out the new Maybach 57S - for those want to drive their Maybach, not be driven in it.

The 57S houses a 612-horsepower, 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine and features a tauter suspension setting than the Maybach 57 for better handling. The 57S can be launched to 100 km/h from a standstill in only five seconds and has a top speed of 275 km/h. Each engine is made individually by one technician, then signed by the Mercedes-AMG technician. This is known as the company's 'one man, one engine' principle.

The braking system on the sedan features four ventilated disc brakes, an antilock braking system, brake assist and electronic stability program. This will all be used to stop the vehicle's 3,260 kg curb weight.

Despite the tighter suspension, Maybach says that drivers of the 57S will still be treated to a high level of comfort for which Maybachs are known for. This latest Maybach features a restyled front end with a new radiator and lighting units, 20-inch wheels and tires (the 57 features 19" wheels), discreet '57S' lettering underneath the A-pillar and on the boot lid and single-tone black or silver paint exclusive to the 57S model. The rear has two new trapezoidal exhaust pipes.

The interior features many vertical surfaces coated in piano lacquer in addition to carbon. Wood trim is still available as an alternative to the carbon. The leather inside is available in either black or a combination of black and white. The shifter matches the interior colour and the steering wheel is covered in black leather.

As with all Maybachs, unconventional requests can often be met, such as adding family crests or initials, or gold trim in place of chrome.
