MINI Canada enhances its 2006 model line up with new packages and optional features, including a new factory-installed John Cooper Works package and new 'Checkmate' and 'Quicksilver' packages.

In addition, MINI Canada holds the line on 2006 MSRP for the MINI Cooper Classic, with a modest $100 increase on all other models.

The popular John Cooper Works performance upgrade is available as a 2006 factory-installed option on the MINI Cooper S. In addition to the engine performance upgrade, which increases output to 208 horsepower and 180 lbs.ft of torque, the factory installation adds the John Cooper Works sport brake kit with 12-inch brake discs and a limited-slip differential. The new package will retail for $5,900. MINI Canada will continue to offer the dealer-installed John Cooper Works engine performance kit along with the expanded line of John Cooper Works tuner accessories.

In other news, the MINI Cooper S hatchback models get a new 'Checkmate' Package priced at $2,350. It features an exclusive exterior appearance with special Checkmate side decals, Silver Roof, Mirror Caps and Bonnet stripes combined with two exclusive new colors: Space Blue and Royal Grey. The unique Checkmate interior offers uniquely patterned cloth/leather sport seats, leather wrapped wheel and a high-gloss, specially patterned dash panel. An exclusive 17-inch Flame Spoke performance wheel and tire package, Dynamic Stability Control and front and rear fog lamps round out the package's sporty orientation.

Also new, the 'Quicksilver' Package provides an exterior motif similar to the Checkmate package, with the addition of Solar Red as an exterior colour. The Quicksilver Package retails for $200 and is only available in combination with the Sport Package.

The 2006 MINI Cooper Classic holds the line on pricing at $23,500, while the Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper convertible and Cooper S convertible increase slightly to $25,900, $30,600, $31,600 and $36,600, respectively.
